LAW6010 Civil Procedure

This course introduces the history of American legal institutions, with consideration of the mechanics of civil litigation in contemporary state and federal court systems and the process by which rights and duties studied in the substantive law courses are enforced. Covered topics include court jurisdiction, venue, rules of pleading, joinder of claims and parties, pre-trial motion practice, discovery, motions for summary judgment, trial procedure, appellate review, and issue and claim preclusion. Prerequisite: None
