CSP 72 Concrete Poetry : Word | Building

With the rise of urban spaces and structures of steel, glass and reinforced concrete in the 20th Century came new surfaces for public communication: billboards, signage, and projection reshaped architecture; and poets and graphic artists reinvented material forms of the printed page. This semester, during a college-wide program of events devoted to poetry, we will literally step into a metaphor, a pop-up exhibit of the mind, in which architecture and the materialities of writing-from poetry to propaganda-are conjoined. In this inquiry-based digital humanities course, you will learn to use scholarly tools and methods for critical analysis and public presentation of collaborative research.
