Introduces and provideshands-on skill development in basic vertical-up open-v groove butt-joint pipe welding techniques on carbon steel pipe with the shielded metal arc welding and gas tungsten-arc welding (TIG) processes. Includes technical information lectures in related subjects.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
To introduce the students to basic Vertical up open V groove, Butt joint pipe welding techniques on carbon steel pipes with the Shielded Metal Arc Welding and the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding TIG processes. To provide hands on skill development in basic Vertical up open V groove Butt joint pipe welding techniques on carbon n steel pipe with the Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten ArcWelding TIG processes. To provide the students with related knowledge required to successfully prepare and join carbon steel pipe. To increase student knowledge and awareness of special considerations applicable to welding pipe with the SMAW and GTAW TIG processes. To increase student knowledge and awareness of applicable related subject areas.
