WD4. 245 Layout Procedures For Metals

Introduces layout principles and applications. Tools and equipment for layout are studied in respect to their operating performance, with emphasis on maintenance. Includes planning and construction of templates, layout and specific fabrication to examine process quality.

Prerequisite: WD4.247 Interpreting Metal Fabrication Drawings, and WD4.258 Basic Print Reading: Welders with a grade of C or better.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify tools and equipment utilized for layout and pipe layout development. Demonstrate understanding of industry - proven payout procedures. Demonstrate understanding of commonly used welded pipe-joint configurations. Construct templates for commonly used welded pipe-joint configurations. Demonstrate ability to utilize flat, parallel line, triangulation, and radial line layout techniques.
