Provides additional hands-on skill development with the Gas Tungsten-Arc Welding process on aluminum alloys beyond the introduction provided in prerequisite WD4.152 Welding II; also provides an introduction to the Gas Metal-Arc Welding process on aluminum alloys. Includes technical information lectures in related subject areas.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Use applicable shop equipment safely. Set up and operate welding machines used for GTAW process and GMAW process. Perform welding in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions as applicable to the welding process. Recognize and name key components of the GTAW and GMAW welding equipment. Select the commonly used types(s) of filler metal for the base metal being welded.
