CYB 6030 IDS and IPS

The Intrusion Detection (IDS) and Intrusion Protection (IPS) course introduces students to intrusion detection and intrusion protection from both a tactical and strategic perspective.  Students are introduced to intrusion detection and intrusion protection tools, techniques, and strategies. This course provides a survey of the hardware and software techniques that are applied to the detection, identification, classification and remediation of compromised information systems. Based upon the technology survey, students will develop a solid foundation for understanding IDS and how they function and are employed within a network or cloud. This course will also give students a background in the technology of detection network and cloud attacks. It will introduce all the concepts and procedures used for network boundary protection using both IDS (intrusion Detection Systems) and IPS (intrusion Prevention Systems).
