DWA 338 Junior Seminar: Theory and Practice of Human Rights in the Transnational Muslim World

The place of human rights in the transnational Muslim world in comparative and theoretical perspective. The focus will be on 20th century political and ideological events in the Muslim world broadly defined to include its diverse formations. There will be particular attention paid to movements for the integration of human rights into domestic, international, and transnational politics, and attendant theoretical questions. The course will be reading-intensive and we will focus class discussions around each week's readings. Open only to DWA majors with junior or senior standing.
