CSP 81 Age of Renaissance and Encounter

Learn about the formation of modern states in competition to trade in a growing global economy. Vicariously visit the early modern cities of Florence, Venice, Amsterdam, London, and Geneva. Get to know authors who creatively revived classical texts, as well as artists like Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Artemisia Gentileschi, Durer, and Rembrandt, who made scientific study of nature and human nature. This interdisciplinary seminar encourages students to learn the techniques of writing a historical paper on a topic of the student’s interest. Open only to first-year students.
