BUS 287 Project Management Theory and Practice

This course builds on the project management fundamental presented in BUS 257 and specifically address the processes of executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing of individual processes in each process group. Emphasis is placed on the inputs, tools, and outputs required for successful completion of individual processes to ensure success of the entire process group. This course also includes discussions of special project management topics as well as current challenges, opportunities, and best practices in the project management field. Industry executives are invited to share current industry trends and their experiences in project management with the class. (Note: after completion of the following courses, students may elect to take the Project Management Professional (PMP) Examination administered by the Project Management Institution. Sitting for the examination is optional and not a requirement of Mount Saint Mary’s MBA Program.)
