Graduate Studies
Teacher Education has been a major focus of the MSU campus mission for over 125 years. MSU has a strong reputation for preparing qualified teachers for schools throughout the country with eighty percentage of the MSU graduates securing teaching positions in North Dakota. The master’s degree and graduate credit offerings provide professional level training to increase the number of master degree teachers, assists with addressing the teacher shortage areas across the state and graduate credit to assist teachers for licensure renewal and salary increases due to lane changes.
Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) degree
Check out Mayville State University's new online program. This completely online MAT program is designed for people who have a non-teaching bachelor's degree and are interested in entering the teaching profession. The MAT program offers flexibility and affordability for adult learners. In the fall of 2015, the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education approved Mayville State University’s request to offer a Master of Arts in Teaching degree which was approved in August 2016 by the Higher Learning Commission.
Graduate Courses
In 2011 the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education approved Mayville State University’s request to offer graduate credit in Education and Library Media and Information Science (LMIS). The Higher Learning Commission approved offering five transferable courses and five non-transferable courses in education and library science. The courses are based on the needs of certified educators who will take graduate courses as part-time students. Cohort groups of educators will complete the courses offered on a rotational basis. Mayville State University will articulate the graduate courses with graduate degree granting institutions.
