Certificate Organizational Change and Development

The Organizational Change and Development (OCD) certificate focuses on applying trauma-informed psychological and sociological theories and concepts to help improve the workplace environment and to help people function better within an organization. This certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to initiate, implement, and manage trauma-informed change in the workplace. Not only would this certificate be applicable for organization leaders, but it is also appropriate for employees at every level working to advance in their career or wanting to make a positive change in their workplace.

Through this certificate, students will explore topics including:
- organizational design,
- leadership,
- coaching,
- organizational effectiveness,
- intercultural competence,
- maximizing employees’ potential,
- change management,
- adherence to and promotion of organizational culture and values, and
- balance between work and life (including burnout).
Students who complete this certificate will gain skills in solving problems in the workplace using a trauma-informed lens and helping employees acquire knowledge and skills as to create more successful organizational change and enhance performance environments.


The Organizational Change & Development certificate consists of 15 undergraduate credits. Nine (9) credits make up the core of the certificate program. Students may choose six (6) credits from a menu of approved electives. Students must complete the Undergraduate Certificate Program form so that the certificate will appear on their transcript.
Note: Students are held to all prerequisite requirements; some students may require more than 5 courses to complete this certificate.
