MSE 7400 The Gifted and Talented Child

This is the foundation course in gifted/talented education.  It addresses the nature and nurture of giftedness and how those concepts have changed over time, the science and politics of intelligence and creativity, instructional models and practices, issues and challenges, professional ethical principles, and emerging trends in the education of the gifted. Candidates will explore topics such as inclusion, equity, cultural diversity, learning environments, socio-economic issues, identification and assessment, and using professional ethical principles to make decisions and solve problems related to the education of gifted and talented children. Candidates will complete 5 hours of fieldwork.
