Purpose
The Applied Behavioral Health Associate Degree program is a 2-year associate degree program designed to provide a foundation of skills and knowledge for working in a variety of behavioral health environments, including substance abuse & addictions, youth services, healthcare, human services, corrections, mental health, services for the aged, and corrections.
The purpose of the Applied Behavioral Health program is to provide a professional credential for Behavioral Health workers.
Program Competencies
a. Define the characteristics of helping relationships.
b. Demonstrate respectful, value-free communication and active-listening skills.
c. Demonstrate respect and adherence to regulations regarding ethical client interactions and confidentiality.
d. Encourage and support behaviors and cognition that align with the recovery process.
e. Recognize the difference between crisis intervention and on-going therapeutic intervention.
f. Convey and clarify personal point of view and understanding of information when working collaboratively and in teams.
g. Document information as required by HIPAA and program policies and procedures.

3. Demonstrate respect for and adherence to regulations regarding ethical client interactions and confidentiality assessed in BHS 201: Ethics and Communications.
4. Encourage and support behaviors and cognition that align with the recovery process assessed in HSC 210: Survey of Behavioral Health Problems.
