AUT 220 Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning

A study of heat flow and transfer, including change of state as applied to air conditioning systems and climate-controlled automotive environments. Students will test, service and repair heating and cooling systems following EPA regulations. Recovery and recharging R-134a air conditioning systems. Theory of heating/air conditioning operations and manufacturers testing and diagnostic procedures are used to provide sufficient knowledge to adjust and repair components for proper performance and ensure conformity with EPA regulations and requirements for inspection. This course prepares students for the ASE certification examination in Automotive Heating/Air Conditioning. Students are required to pass the refrigerant recovery and recycling exam to meet EPA Section 609 of the Clean Air Act of 1990.
