SPE 203 Power, Persuasion and Propaganda

Students will study the art and science of persuasion as well as the role of power in influencing public opinion. In examining the theory and practice of persuasion, students will learn to distinguish between legitimate persuasive strategies and propaganda techniques. The class will examine persuasive techniques in a variety of settings including advertising, marketing and political campaigns. In-class debates and other activities will be used to develop students' persuasive skills. This course is recommended for pre-law students.
