PHIL 101 Introduction to Philosophy

This course is an introduction to the practice of philosophy through engagement with canonical philosophical texts and problems.  The course challenges students not only to develop the skills of critical and charitable reading and philosophical argumentation, but also to think more clearly about topics of perennial philosophical interest, like:  the nature of knowledge, the existence of God, the legitimacy of political institutions, and the nature of morality. Seniors may not enroll in this course.
