DWA 280 Globalization: Issues And Controversies

This course explores the various facets of the globalization process, its causes and wide-ranging consequences, and its implications for U.S. domestic and foreign policy, as well as for global governance. Has globalization benefited East Asia, Africa, and Latin America? What have been the differing impacts on those regions? Questions that will be addressed include: what are conceptual perspectives on globalization? What are the economic dimensions of globalization? What are its cultural dimensions? What impact has globalization had on issues such as global health and illicit trafficking in peoples and goods? What are the political consequences of globalization? What are policy responses to the challenges globalization presents?
