CHIN 350 Classical Chinese Texts

Readings in short classical Chinese texts, from pre-Qin historical, philosophical, and literary works that are the sources of sayings still common in modern vernacular Chinese. Students will learn the grammar, structure, and vocabulary of classical Chinese (wenyan) and gain advanced proficiency in modern spoken (baihua) and literary (shumianyu) Chinese, through exercises in oral and written discussion and analysis of the use of classical Chinese thought and sayings in contemporary Chinese language and culture. Course offered every four years.
