2018-2019 Catalog

BIO 326 Molecular Evolution and Phylogenomics

An introduction to the theory of how DNA and other molecular markers evolve. Theoretical knowledge will be applied to reconstructing evolutionary histories, genes, and organisms, with emphasis on the application of molecular evolution to phylogenomics. Laboratory sessions will introduce the student to techniques for the isolation of genomic data and its storage, bioinformatic processing, and analysis via a broad suite of analytical software.
