WRD 135 Occidental Weekly Practicum

The Occidental Weekly practicum is designed to provide students with practical experiences to develop new skills and enhance insights into student journalism both print and digital short and long form. Under the supervision of the course instructor in collaboration with Occidental Weekly senior staff and the CDLR students will read write and discuss pertinent journalism topics such as ethics copyright and photojournalism as well as develop reporting strategies. Guest speakers field trips and journalistic work in Northeast Los Angeles will help students reflect on the creation management and delivery of college journalism to multiple audiences. This course is required in order for students to become section editors or senior editors web communications or business staff.
