PHIL 353 Health and Social Justice

Contemporary political debates often concern the relationship between social justice and health. This course addresses central issues in the philosophy of healthcare and public health, including: what is health? How is health related to well-being more broadly? What are the proper aims of public health and healthcare institutions? Does health enjoy a special moral importance? What is health equity? Is access to health care a fundamental (human) right?
