CHIN 350 Classical Chinese Thought and Sayings

Readings in short classical Chinese texts from pre-Qin historical philosophical and literary works that are the sources of sayings still common in modern vernacular Chinese. Students will learn the grammar structure and vocabulary of classical Chinese (wenyan) and gain advanced proficiency in modern spoken (baihua) and literary (shumianyu) Chinese through exercises in oral and written discussion and analysis of the use of classical Chinese thought and sayings in contemporary Chinese language and culture. Given every four years.
