ARAB 301 Arabic in the Media and Film

An advanced Arabic course intended for students who have taken Intermediate II. It introduces the language of the newspapers magazines and internet news sites. Students will gain access to different sources from the Arab world. What is the intellectual justification of the course? It offers an extensive practice of the four language skills--reading listening writing about and discussing current news topics. It promotes both cultural and linguistic competence. How will student work be assessed? Four short compositions and two oral presentations.
