PHI 182 Mexican Philosophy, Culture, and Society

This course is an introduction to post-Revolutionary Mexican society and culture, demonstrating the essential role philosophers played in the formation of Mexican national identity between 1909 and 1960. Through a study of some of Mexico's most influential philosophers - for example, José Vasconcelos, Antonio Caso, Samuel Ramos, Alfonso Reyes, Emilio Uranga - this course offers an introduction to la filosofía de lo mexicano (the philosophy of Mexicanness).
