PHM 190 Pharmacy Technician Practicum

This course allows students to gain a practical Pharmacy experience while participating in a supervised learning experience in a health care field. Students complete competencies and work a specified number of hours during the term in preparation to sit for the national ASHP examination upon graduation. Required: Admission to the Pharmacy Technician program.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Assist the pharmacist in collecting, organizing, and evaluating information for direct patient care. Demonstrate effective communication with patients, family members, and healthcare professionals using verbal, written, and information technology tools devices. Perform inventory control tasks, including placing, receiving and shelving orders to industry standards. Prepare prescription information under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
