NDT 150 Ultrasonic Testing Level I

This course follows the Society of Nondestructive Testing Recommended Practice, SNT-TC-1A most current edition for personal qualification and certification in Nondestructive Testing and meets or exceeds the minimum requirements. It covers the historical background of ultrasonics and applications, basic principles of acoustics, types of equipment used and calibration methods. Students will perform a variety of hands-on exercises that relate directly to industry practices.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Setup and calibrate ultrasonic testing equipment and perform contact and immersion testing on a variety of standards, some castings or fabrications and repairs in accordance with SNT-TC-1A Recommended Practices. Perform specific calibrations, instructions and record results as recommended by SNT-TC-1A Practices. Pass written exams with a composite grade of at least 80% with no individual passing grade less than 70% as recommended by the SNT-TC-1A Practices.
