ENGR 242 Introduction To GIS

An introductory course in geographic Information systems (GIS). Uses Arc GIS software to display and work with spatial data, work with attributes, query databases, and present data. Required: Knowledge of computer and Windows operation.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the Arc GIS software functions, terminology and geographic concepts. Demonstrate the ability to compile a map and to perform basic spatial and statistical analysis. Demonstrate a knowledge of basic cartographic concepts. Demonstrate the ability to process, analyze and render real data using Arc GIS software.
