CS 140M Operating Systems: Microsoft

A Workbench course that provides experience with common computer software tasks in a Microsoft Windows operating system environment. Emphasizes troubleshooting, problem solving and building skills in the area of computer user support. Includes registry patches, tech support and installations including printer sharing and client deployment.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe the basic functions of an operating system. Differentiate between different approaches to operating system design at a high level. Experiment with and consider configuration of an operating system in a variety of ways. Write basic scripts used in monitoring and controlling an operating system's behavior. Categorize common security risks and the role that an operating system plays in maintaining the security of information.
