CIS 197 Content Management Systems

Content management systems are software system providing website authoring, collaboration, and administration tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of web programming languages or markup languages to create and manage website content with relative ease. Web developers are often tasked with setting up and maintaining such systems and their constituent parts.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe the roles of a content management system. Describe the similarities and differences between leading content management systems. Employ a content management system, complete with a content repository. Create appropriate template for use with a content management system. Administer a content management system, including creating various types of user accounts.
