CH 221 General Chemistry

A general chemistry sequence for students majoring in most sciences, pharmacy, and chemical engineering. This is the first of a three-term sequence for students in science, engineering and the professional health programs.

Prerequisite

Prerequisite: Completion of high school chemistry with a grade of C or better and a passing score on the chemistry entrance exam; or CH 150 Preparatory Chemistry with a grade of C or better, or CH 121 College Chemistry with a grade of C or better or CH 112 Chemistry for Health Occupations with a grade of C or better; and MTH 095 Intermediate Algebra with a grade of C or better (or higher concurrent MTH course. This course includes a laboratory component.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Work safety as a team member and as an individual in a laboratory environment. Observe and record measurements related to physical and chemical properties. Understand the historical developments of chemical principles and theories.
