Fire and Emergency Service, Bachelor of Arts

The major in Fire and Emergency Service provides a foundation in fire and emergency services, with related courses in management and administration. The major prepares students for careers in fire services, emergency management and administrative aspects of emergency medical services.

Emergency Medical Services

Students must have passed the New York State Department of Health Advanced Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (AEMT-P) certification examination or an equivalent certification from another jurisdiction as determined by the Program Coordinator. Nine credits will be awarded for this certification, satisfying the Emergency Medical Services specialization requirement. Note that while credits may be awarded for other levels of Emergency Medical Technician certification (CFR, EMT-B, AEMT-I, or AEMT-CC), these credits will not satisfy the requirements of the major.
