DWA 224 Latin American Politics

This course is an analysis of Latin American politics in the 20th century, with a focus on contemporary democratic politics. The course will discuss the historical, institutional, and social forces that have both accelerated and opposed democratization, and will cover topics of current concern to the region, including: economic development, security and the rule of law, the design of political institutions, human rights, and social movements.
