Why Study Emergency Management?
The AAS in Emergency Management is a joint degree program with Ulster, Orange, and Sullivan County Community Colleges and will prepare students to react and be effective before, during and after any local, state or national emergency. This program meets the New York State and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) education and training requirements.

Occupational Objectives:
The AAS degree in Emergency Management will prepare students for positions in public or private sector agencies and organizations that deal with the effects of disasters. Students who complete the program can obtain entry-level positions in government, health care agencies, transportation and more. However, if students decide to further their education at the baccalaureate level, additional general education courses will need to be completed at the transferring institution.

Program Goals:
The degree provides a rigorous and dynamic interdisciplinary education that will attract, motivate and prepare students for the challenges facing the field of emergency management. In addition, students will develop the knowledge, experience, and critical decision-making and communication skills needed to respond appropriately to emergency and disaster situations.
Program Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Understand the emergency management content areas and the emergency management operating guidelines
- Develop the necessary skills required to function within the New York State and National Incident Management System
- Understand the cost and benefits actions and evaluate possible alternatives
