PSY 150 Applied Early Childhood Development I

This course identifies the major theories in Abnormal Psychology. It examines the etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders. The disorders discussed will include: anxiety disorders, dissociative and somatic symptom disorders, personality disorders, depression and bipolar disorders, substance use disorders, and schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders. The historical background of Abnormal Psychology and the deinstitutionalization process of persons with psychological illnesses will be explored. Issues involving the criminal justice system and the insanity defense will be studied as well.

PSY 145 or permission of the Department Chair
