PLG 108 Real Estate Practices

This course prepares the paralegal to assist attorneys with the transfer of real property in New York. Topics covered include methods of acquiring ownership of real property, characteristics of the various estates in property, types of ownership, surveys and descriptions, types of liens and encumbrances, types of deeds and mortgages. A special emphasis is placed on preparing for a real estate closing, closing procedures and post-closing activities. Students will also learn how to prepare important real estate forms such as a real estate sales contract and closing forms such as affidavits and RESPA.
