NUR 111 Nursing Process IA

An introduction to the nature of nursing, the holistic nature of the patient and concepts of health. The nursing process, with its related skills of observation, taking a health history, doing a physical assessment, using therapeutic communication and health teaching, is presented as the basis of nursing practice. The nursing process is applied, through the use of case studies and clinical experiences to meeting the basic needs of patients for nutrition, elimination, body defense and psychological regulation. Clinical experiences are focused on the elderly patient in community and long-term care settings. Basic nursing skills are learned in the nursing laboratory.

NUR 103 (if clinical calculations competency test not passed)
