ENG 224 Modern Fiction

A cross section of modern fiction is explored to discover what theories, techniques and concerns define a work of literature as "modern." Often American and British authors are emphasized, but international writers (in translation) complement such semester's reading. Recent classes have focused on such writers as Conrad, Kafka, Lawrence, Faulkner, Lessing, Roth, Garcia Marquez, DeLillo, Munro, Carver and Oates. Fulfills literature requirement for AA degree.
