DWA 288 Global Environmental Challenges and Politics

This course examines the major challenges of our environment and its relationship to politics and policy issues. We will cover topics addressing the normal functioning of the Earth, including the water cycle, carbon cycle, and the atmosphere. We will concentrate on the behavior of humans that affect these processes. We will tackle issues of state development, particularly industrialization and its consequences (including the increased use of fossil fuels, pollution of water, widespread deforestation, climate change, etc.), and their effects on the environment in which we live. We will discuss these problems and consider solutions at the international, national, local, and personal level.
