AMST 233 American 20th Century Queer Novel

This course introduces students to literary questions of queerness, canonization, and nation, in the context of the United States' 20th century discourses about homosexuality. Students will analyze the production of ideas about the nation through literature and examine the limits and capacities of the novel genre for cultural expressions of LGBTQ life in America.
