SPAN 342 Spanish in the United States

An introduction to Spanish language and Spanish-speaking communities in the US, including communities in the Southwest, Florida, the Northeast, Louisiana, and the Midwest. This course focuses on the language-internal features apparent in the different regions, as well as social factors like age, education, gender, race, nationality, and socioeconomic status. We will also discuss social issues such as language attitudes and bilingualism.
