The Second-Stage Writing Proficiency Requirement
Students will typically fulfill their Second-Stage Writing Proficiency Requirement through a designated course in their academic major department. Please note: for students with double majors, they need only fulfill the Second-Stage Writing Proficiency Requirement in one of the two departments, unless otherwise directed by the department chairs. If (as determined by the major department) a student does not fulfill their Second-Stage Writing Proficiency Requirement through their major department’s course, they will be required to take and pass with a “C” or higher WRD 201: The Art of Essay Writing. If a student has already taken WRD 201 to fulfill their First-Stage Writing Proficiency Requirement, they will need to consult with the Writing Programs Director, who will coordinate with the student’s department chair to determine how the student will fulfill their Second-Stage Writing Proficiency Requirement.
