Credit for Uniformed Members of Service (NYPD, FDNY, DOC)
New York City Police Department officers may receive up to 29 credits for completion of the Recruit Academic Program at the New York City Police Department Academy. Credit will be awarded for the following courses, provided these have not previously been completed as regular college courses: PSC 101 (4 credits) PSC 107 (4 credits), LAW 203, (4 credits), LAW 204 (4 credits), PSY 221, (4 credits), SOC 201 (3 credits), PED 103 (1 credit), PED 113 (1 credit), PED elective (1 credit), and CRJ elective (3 credits).
New York City Department of Correction officers may receive up to 18 credits for completion of recruit training. Credit will be awarded for the following courses, provided these have not previously been completed as regular college courses: CJBS 101 (3 credits), COR 101 (3 credits), COR 201 (3 credits), COR 282 (3 credits), COR elective (3 credits), SOC elective (3 credits), PED elective (3 credits).
New York City Fire Department personnel may receive up to 10 credits for completion of firefighter school. Credit will be awarded for the following courses, provided these have not previously been completed as regular college courses: FIS 101 (3 credits), FIS elective (2 credits), PSC elective (3 credits), and PED elective (2 credits).
NYPD, FDNY, and DOC students who have successfully completed a training program that has been evaluated by the College for the award of credit or a program that has been recommended for the award of credit by the American Council on Education (ACE) or the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS), must apply to the Office of Testing and Evaluation for the application of this credit toward their undergraduate degree. Applicants must provide documentation in support of their requests. A statement or transcript indicating subjects taken, grades received, dates of attendance, and the number of hours of participation must be sent directly to the Office of Testing and Evaluation from the agency that has provided the training.
