DRA 247 Gender on Stage and Screen

This course focuses on constructions of masculinity and femininity, sexual orientation, and gender roles in traditional, experimental, and popular performances created for stage and screen. Discussions center on how particular depictions reinforce or resist the standard gender culture. Performance genres to be examined may include theatre, dance, film, and television, as well as extra-theatrical performance and pop culture activities.
