The course provides a review of plane states of stress and strain.  These concepts are applied to the analysis of thin-walled beams with open and closed section, unsymmetrical bending of wing sections, torsion of skin-stringer and multi-cell sections, flexural shear in open and closed sections, and shear center and relevant failure criteria.  This course also includes an introduction to composite materials and the demonstration of the behaviors of some simple structural elements.
