ECON 475 History of Economic Thought

Historical survey of economic thought from ancient times to the present.  Examines the evolution of central ideas within the economics discipline on class, globalization, government, human behavior, markets, and money, among others, and contextualizes those ideas in the economic circumstances of their times.   Topics include economic thought prior to capitalism, classical political economy, Marx’s critique of political economy, the neoclassical revolution, the Keynesian revolution, and other currents from twentieth and twenty-first century economic thought.
