EDEC 102 Fieldwork in Early Childhood I

Structured and supervised first-level observations and onsite experiences, including course embedded field assignments, in early childhood program settings to gain real life experience and knowledge to meet CT ECTC and Infant/Toddler Mental Health competencies. Field placements provide candidates with access to both infant/toddler and preschool/kindergarten children and families in classrooms, community-based agencies. The ECE program coordinator is in charge of field placement in collaboration with school and community partners. A combined total of 45 fieldwork hours in EDEC 101, EDEC 105 and EDEC 102. Fieldwork placement will be scheduled once a week (Monday through Friday), 8:00AM-12:00PM, in a preschool/K and/or infant/toddler setting. NOTE: Candidate who fails the field experience requirements also will fail the course.

CT law requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check for the field experiences in this class. Fingerprinting must be completed prior to the beginning of class.

Declared major inEarly Childhood Studies and Infant/Toddler Mental Health program. Taken concurrently with EDEC 101 and EDEC 105.
