Computer Information Technology M.S.

Program Rationale:

Toward the goal of preparing information technology (IT) practitioners for the 21st century, the MS CIT program integrates multiple disciplines of the IT field, including computer science, management information systems, and networking and telecommunications, providing the student with both breadth and depth of knowledge and skill-based expertise in this field.

Program Learning Outcomes:

Students in the program are expected to demonstrate:

• theoretical and conceptual mastery of a broad base of computer science, management information systems, and networking and telecommunications skills required for successful careers in the IT field;
• application-based mastery of a broad base of computer science, management information systems, and networking and telecommunications skills required for successful careers in the IT field; and
• the ability to conduct and present applied research through a research team project.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Applicants must also have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.70 on a 4.00 point scale (where A is 4.00), or its equivalent, and good standing (3.00 GPA) in all post-baccalaureate course work. Applicants must submit a graduate application along with official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to the Graduate Recruitment and Admissions.

Additional Materials Required:

Applicants must submit a resume and two letters of recommendation to be used in reviewing CIT-related work. At least one letter of recommendation must come from an individual who can attest to the applicant’s work experience; the second letter may be from an individual who can attest to the applicant’s academic ability and commitment.
