PHIL 320 Health and Social Justice

Contemporary health issues often raise deep ethical and theoretical concerns.  In this course, we seek to connect philosophical and theoretical work on social justice with contemporary issues in health, such as abortion, trans* health, disability rights, domestic violence, international inequities, and health disparities.  As a key component of this course, students will partner with a community organization for a semester-long research project, identifying an issue of practical importance to that community and offering an original, theoretical analysis.
