MUSC 148 Introduction to Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)

Logic Pro X and Ableton Live are professional music production programs (known as DAW's) that combine composition, notation, and audio production facilities. Relevant to composers, songwriters, music producers, and audio engineers, this course introduces students to the primary features and basic user interface of Logic Pro X and Ableton Live.  Students will learn the process for creating an actual song, from recording live players, producing beats, editing audio, and recording/editing/arranging MIDI sequences, to digital effects processing using virtual plugins, automation, and mixing. Instructor permission required.

Prerequisite

Permission of instructor, plus MUSC 101 or the equivalent. First-year and transfer students must take the Music Theory Placement test (administered during Orientation) to determine eligibility for the course
