ECON 327 Economics of Gender - Marriage, Motherhood, and Money

An examination of the historical and contemporary economic positions of women in the United States, this course is designed as an overview of major theories, trends, and debates on the topic of gender in the labor market. We will examine gender differences in economic outcomes through the use of economic models, including feminist extensions and critiques of such models. Topics include: the family as an economic unit; gender differences in education, work, training, and income; and the economics of marriage, divorce, and fertility. Permission of instructor required for students who have successfully completed ECON 328 to enroll in this course.
